The Vienna Boys Choir, consisting of boy sopranos and altos who are selected mainly from Austria, but also from many other countries around the world, is one of the oldest boys’ choirs in existence. This choir, now synonymous with Austria, can boast of a well documented 500-year history which started out in the imperial court with a dozen boys. They have long since exceeded their “Oak” anniversary!

The choir is a private, nonprofit organization. There are approximately 100 choristers between the ages of 10 and 14. The boys are divided into four touring choirs, which perform about 300 concerts each year, entertaining an estimated 500,000 people. Each group tours from nine to 11 weeks.
