The Orchestra is always the first concert booked and the one upon which CCMA builds any season. The Utah Symphony was founded in 1940. More than 70 subscription concerts annually in their home, Maurice Abravanel Hall, make up only a portion of the orchestra's yearly schedule. The group travels around the Intermountain West giving concerts, and in 2005, embarked on its first European Tour in 19 years. They also participate in Utah Opera's four annual productions and perform numerous concerts as part of the Utah Symphony/Utah Opera's Deer Valley Music Festival held eash summer in Park City.
The Utah Symphony has been performing in Cedar City for many decades and is the backbone of the CCMA series. This tradition has been carefully kept alive from year to year. Eighty-two years later Cedar residents treasure their yearly evening at the Symphony as patrons of the CCMA series.
