The Merling Trio is recognized as one of today's premier ensembles and is truly an international trio with members of Polish, Japanese, and Dutch decent. The trio, which made its New York debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1993 and was named a finalist for the Naumburg Foundation Chamber Music Award in 1994, is known for its "impeccable blend of sound, remarkable gifts of communication and magnificent precision."

Renata Artman Knific, Violin, Bruce Uchimura, cello, and Susan Wiersma Uchimura are the Merling Trio. All three musicians are currently professors at Western Michigan University.
